The dance paints a symphony of hues and rhythm. The dance is over me, around me and about me. The dance is that of my Lord delighting in me. Who am I, mere mortal, to be rejoiced over so ardently? And who is He to do such a foolish thing? Yet He dances and delights and rejoices... in me Carl

				Giant Kingfisher

I was in the Kruger Park this week, and had the opportunity to enjoy God's creation with my father's (gracious borrowing of his) 100-400mm lense. This was taken at the bird hide near Skukuza, it is highly recommended for all photographers visiting the Park to camp there for a day. There is hardly 10min passing by without something cool happening. This giant kingfisher is shooing a spotted kingfisher wanting to steal the still gasping fish from him. Eventually he flew off to eat the fish on the opposite shore, since it was clearly too large for him to swallow whole. About 10m away from this scene at the same time a goliath heron was catching his 3rd fish since we came there; a "slang hals voël" landed nearby (30m) to build a nest; another giant king fisher landed in the top a nearby tree to rest; a crocodile 40m away slid into the water towards the juvenile purple heron (10m away) on his 5 catch since we got there alongside a couple of black crakes treading the lilies and eating the worms. Since this was clearly not enough happening, three different kinds of dragonflies hovered 2m away from us for some great areal photos; large tortoises came near to the river bank to chill and 4 hippos came to hide from the sun in among some reeds. Apparently there were a couple of dikkoppe on the opposite bank... but I wasn't really paying attention.

2Ti 2:3,4 Then you suffer hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No one serving as a soldier entangles himself with the affairs of this life, so that he might please the one having enlisted him Yep, this is me with the application of curves and a harsh light above the head. The image was somewhat inspired by a combination of the movie "300" and anime. I often marvel at how powerful and vulnerable the kuros is. Carl
