I too like this Carl, the comp is fine but if you do change it I'd like to see what difference it makes to the image.

Carl Kirstein: I won't posted the flipped version, but the composition has (to me) been improved. I have experimented flipping a couple of other images of mine, and had some signicant improvements with some of them.

what I have learnt is to put your focus point close to the top right golden ratio (if possible). You eye enters the image from bottom left and then "seeks" guiding lines to end up at the top right. Others may differ, but this is what I have found.

In this image, you end up looking at her boots, instead of ending up with her face. If I was advertising boots, I would have kept the composition as it is now.

You had me worried when this picture came up first. Today I saw the part under the line about attending classes.

I have recently developed the insight to flip pictures and am happy with this simple way to address whatever shortcoming it is that one can fix.

The leading line and your remark to johnny. Ever since I have seen the number of leading eye remarks, I was thinking who is prescribing to the eyes. Probably some statistic about looking patterns. Personally I see the whole, refocus to the middle and scan again to the outsides. Then a leading line in any direction can catch my eye. I have checked myself a couple of times on this. Probably the reason why I will never be a great photographer.
