cattle alone on a lawn licked by the lulling waves
chewing the cud in the day time,
and grazing by night.
the singing women with waterpots beg for money
children go out early to sea to capture the (cray)fish
and then try to sell it to anyone with a pale skin
girls hold out their shell necklasses and ask R5 prease
where are the men?
Why is this part of the world so removed from reality?

I think what I like the most about this picture is the knee-knumbing relief the cow seems to be getting from rubbing up against that tree. Very interesting composition - I think you could get away with popping the colours (esp. the blue and green) a little bit on this one (since it is such an alien setting). It's a pity about the aloe on the left and the branch on the right - I think they detract from the picture.
The lighting is beautiful though - really brings out the texture on the tree bark.
Carl Kirstein: I agree with the popping, but I have already saturated the scene beyond where it was. I don't want to overdo it :o)
